Thursday 8 March is International Women’s Day and Sheffield will be celebrating the event with a six day festival: SheFestSheff.

From 5-11 March the city will host a number of events as a local tribute to the global celebration of women. This year’s festival is especially significant, as 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act- granting some women the right to vote.

Curated by a small team of volunteers, this not-for-profit festival will see a range of events take place across the city. From a women’s history walking tour to a ‘black glamour’ art exhibition, the festival hopes to engage more people in the public conversation about women’s rights that remains as important as it was a century ago.
